Chat & Notifications
Colo includes an internal chat system so your team can communicate without leaving the workspace, as well as a notification centre for system alerts.
Chat
1. Opening Chat
- Click the Chat icon (speech bubble) in the left sidebar or top navigation.
2. Starting a Conversation
- In the chat sidebar, click + New Message or use the Search Users field.
- Type the name of a team member.
- Select them from the results.
- Type your message in the input box at the bottom.
- Press Enter or click Send.
3. Sending a File in Chat
- Open a conversation.
- Click the Attachment (paperclip) icon next to the message input.
- Select a file from your computer.
- Click Send.
- The recipient can click the file to download it.
4. Viewing Chat History
- All previous messages are loaded when you open a conversation.
- Scroll up to see older messages.
5. Deleting a Message
- Hover over the message you want to delete.
- Click the Delete icon that appears.
- Confirm.
Deleted messages are removed immediately for all participants.
6. Chat Notifications
- A badge on the Chat icon shows the number of unread messages.
- You will receive an in-app notification when a new message arrives.
Notifications
1. Viewing Notifications
- Click the Bell icon in the top navigation bar.
- A dropdown lists recent notifications (task assignments, invoice updates, new messages, etc.).
- Click any notification to navigate directly to the relevant record.
2. Notification Types

| Task Assigned | A task is assigned to you |
| Invoice Sent | An invoice is sent to a client |
| Proposal Accepted/Declined | Client responds to a proposal |
| Contract Signed | A client signs a contract |
| Payment Received | A payment is recorded against an invoice |
| New Message | A team member sends you a chat message |
| Project Updated | A project you are on is modified |
3. Deleting Notifications
- Click the Bell icon.
- Click the Delete icon next to a notification to dismiss it.
- Or click Clear All to remove all notifications at once.
Tips
- Use chat to keep project discussions in one place — it avoids long email threads.
- Notifications are the fastest way to know when a client accepts a proposal or pays an invoice. Keep an eye on the bell icon.
